Plesiosaurs were large, marine reptiles from the Mesozoic Era that ranged in size from 8-46 feet long (2.5-14 m). The name Plesiosaur is Greek for "nearer to the reptiles". It was given this name since the Plesiosaurs is not actually a dinosaur, but rather a large swimming reptile.
